The Device Management System (DMS) from DENSO WAVE EUROPE, part of the Toyota group, is a modern software tool to support the efficient use of handheld terminals within a company, for instance, in retail and logistics. for the mobile handheld terminals used in their company can always see the status of each mobile data collection device at a glance. That is a great advantage as it saves a lot of time and therefore costs.”

The DMS from DENSO WAVE EUROPE has been developed by DENSO, part of the Toyota group, for their BHT handheld terminals and ensures that all devices, which are used in a company can be linked together on just one computer. Especially in retail and logistics, this offers numerous advantages. The mobile data collection devices can be managed in real-time by the DMS as the individual information of each handheld terminal is always kept up to date in the system. “This way, the device management is controlled and guaranteed centrally,” says Gelbrich all the while emphasizing the great advantages of this modern DMS.

Keeping Downtimes to a Minimum while using Handheld Terminals more efficiently

If an update is required for a single or even multiple mobile data collection devices, this can be planned ahead, so downtimes can be kept to a minimum. This gives the administrator of the handheld terminals the opportunity to better control and optimize all the processes.

When troubleshooting a faulty mobile data collection device, the new Device Management System from DENSO WAVE EUROPE, part of the Toyota group, can offer a great advantage as well: Administrators can send commands to the handheld terminal concerned while another employee simultaneously tests the mobile data collection device. In this way, errors in the handheld terminals are fixed faster and more efficiently.

Thanks to the integrated theft protection in the handheld terminals, administrators can even use the Device Management System to lock a stolen mobile data collection device or reset it to the factory settings.

How one Device Management System simplifies working with numerous Handheld Terminals

The Device Management System consists of an app for installation on the mobile handhelds and an administration app to be installed on a computer. After the installation is completed, both the operating system and all applications on the mobile data collection devices can be updated and managed – simply via the Device Management System on the computer.

“In the past, what was tediously done for every single handheld terminal in the company, can now be processed and completed in one step, saving time and money,” says Gelbrich.

As a result, not only administrators are noticeably relieved by the Device Management System, but faster solutions can be put into place in order to use handheld terminals more efficiently within a company, for example, in retail and logistics.
