Singapore Singing Champ to fly to Helsinki, Finland for the World’s Biggest Amateur Singing Competition

(live-PR.com) - Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Singapore held the 2017 National Finals last 15 October at the Hard Rock Café where 30-year old mother of 2 young kids, Jessie Yeong won as the year’s champion. First Runner-up was Sandra Kesslar and second-runner up was Shari Othman.

Karaoke World Championships (KWC) is an international singing competition with over 30 country champions competing in the world finals in November hosted by Finland, in conjunction with their 100th year anniversary of independence. KWC is the world’s biggest amateur singing competition and most prestigious karaoke singing event. The Finnish capital Helsinki will host a full week of events including a Festival with various karaoke and singing related activities, shows and after parties, on top of the seven rounds (4 solo rounds + 3 duet rounds) of wonderful singers from different parts of the world competing for the World Champion titles and our first ever KWC Junior competition! KWC Junior will be launched in Singapore next year.

National trials are conducted in each country with the winners competing in the International finals. Auditions in Singapore were held in key locations including Clarke Quay at venue partner VLV Club, LaSalle College of the Arts at venue partner LowerCase Cafe, Hooha Cafe in Arab Street, Club Six in Tras Street, SingMySong in Jurong and Singapore Polytechnic in partnership with mBar Karaoke Kiosk. Some of the partners that have supported the competition include leading German audiotech company beyerdynamic, the official microphone of Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Singapore; karaoke kiosk mBar which have over seventeen thousand installations in China and will grow their presence in Singapore, the Embassy of Finland in Singapore, Embassy of Philippines in Singapore and the Embassy of Mongolia in Singapore. Some of the VIP guests in attendance during the national finals are Ms Paula Parviainen, Ambassador of Finland to Singapore; 2015 World Champion of KWC, Singaporean Fairus Adam; 2015 Female KWC Singapore Champion, Ms Nadya Dean; and Consul Mersole Mellejar of the Embassy of the Philippines.

It was a wonderful 6-month long search and we are very happy that we found the best representative at the world finals in the person of Jessie” said Mr Kevin O’Hara, KWC Singapore Ambassador and emcee of the KWC Singapore National Finals.

In November 2016, the World Final event was held in Vancouver, Canada where Ryota Kaizo of Japan and Astrid Nicole of Panama won the Karaoke World Champion titles for female and male, respectively. They will be invited to perform as guests in the world finals in Helsinki, Finland. Back in 2015, Singapore hosted the world championships in conjunction with SG50 - the nation's jubilee year anniversary. It was also that same year that Singapore won the first ever World championship title in the person of Fairus Adam.
