With such a wide combination of letters and numbers available for buyers to choose
from, it seems that just about every driver in the country would like to show off their style and coolness by driving around with a distinctive registration mark on their car. But that is not entirely true because according to the study, some drivers are more likely to go for a personalised number plate than others.
Its seems that one in ten male drivers already have a personalised number plate, most of these tend to be owners of businesses and professionals, but when it comes to women driver the figure is very different with only one in twenty female drivers choosing to personalise their car with a private number plate.
According to the man in the know, Edmund King, who happens to be the AA president, he had this to say on the subject; "According to psychologists, some motorists need personalised number plates to demonstrate a sense of individuality, to mark their success or even show the world that they have a sense of humour."
"For some, however, behind the conscious motivations lie unconscious needs or desires, driving them to put on a show to the rest of the world." He added.
He finished off by saying; "For others the plate is merely to keep up with the Joneses and disguise the age of the car."
