Pallasgreen Councillor Takes Over The Reigns In Limerick



30.06.2011 17:24:36 - Councillor Mary Harty became only the third female Councillor ever to be named Cathaoirleach of Limerick County Council at the local authority’s AGM in Limerick County Hall, Dooradoyle, today.

(live-PR.com) - The Fine Gael public representative also is the first native of Pallasgreen to hold the title. She takes over from Councillor Richard Butler who has held the chairmanship of the Council since July 2010.

Commenting on her appointment today Councillor Harty said she was honoured to be selected as the new Cathaoirleach and that she looked forward to representing the Council

 

and the people of Limerick during the next 12 months.

“I would like to thank my fellow Elected Members for bestowing this honour on me and I look forward to working with them during the next year. I also wish to acknowledge the support of my family and friends down through the years as a public representative”, Cllr. Harty added.

Outgoing Cathaoirleach Councillor Richard Butler congratulated his Council colleague on his appointment and thanked his fellow elected members for their “professional and workmanlike attitude to working on the behalf of the people of County Limerick”.

Councillor Richard Butler added: “The professionalism and dedication of Limerick’s Councillors is similar to that of any corporate organisation and they can be very proud of their efforts to make Limerick County Council one of the few local authorities to come in within budget during the 2010 financial year.”
