Product innovation and customer targeting accounted for the highest proportion of activity in September, with 32 developments out of the total of 74. There were a number of notable developments recorded during the month, particularly in customer targeting, which accounted for 15 announcements.

The largest proportion of competitor activity in September originated from North America and Western Europe, which accounted for 22 and 23 of the total 74 developments respectively. Out of the 23 stories in Western Europe, 11 were in the UK.
