(live-PR.com) - Lehigh Valley, Pa. – November 24, 2008 – Thanks to recent daytime temperatures reaching just above freezing, Lehigh Valley’s two ski resorts have already started making snow and expect to open during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. And with the snow comes the annual Stay & Ski overnight travel packages from Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Stay & Ski packages
let snow lovers ski, snowboard or tube the slopes at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie or Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton and then relax overnight in accommodations at one of 14 local hotels and inns. Rates start at $59.99 per person, per night and include overnight accommodations and a voucher for skiing, snowboarding or tubing at either mountain.

Packages are available through March 31, 2009, weather permitting. All rates are per person, based on double occupancy. Packages are subject to availability and are not valid with any other offer.

Participating hotels include popular brands such as Best Western, Holiday Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Staybridge Suites and Four Points by Sheraton, among others. To book a Stay & Ski package, visitors simply call the participating lodging property of their choice and mention the travel package by name.

Bear Creek, a 330-acre resort with mountainside hotel, spa, two restaurants and meeting facilities for groups, features 21 trails on over 86 acres, seven lifts and three terrain parks on over 13 acres. It has added a new quad chairlift, which doubles the resort’s uphill capacity; added a new family terrain park; and increased snowmaking capacity by 30 percent through the addition of 14 new snow guns. www.bcmountainresort.com

Blue Mountain boasts the highest vertical in the state (1,082 ft.) with two hi-speed detachable lifts as well as a six-seater and a quad. There are also three terrain parks for snow boarders, 14 snowtubing slides and 33 trails. It has invested more than $3.1 million in improvements for the upcoming season including a new intermediate trail called Dreamweaver and upgrades to its snowmaking functions, as well as tubing expansions and upgrades. www.skibluemt.com
