Jharkhand go to polls in Nov-Dec



23.10.2009 16:42:09 Centre imposed President's rule in Jharkhand on 19 Jan 2009, when JMM chief Shibu Soren resigned as CM after he lost assembly election.

(live-PR.com) - Jharkhand was brought into existence by the Bihar reorganization Act on November 15, 2000 the birth anniversary of the legendary Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Jharkhand impoverished state in per capita income but in natural resources specailly rich in mineral resource like Uranium, Mica, Bauxite, Granite, Gold, Silver, Graphite, Magnetite, Dolomite, Fireclay, Quartz, Fieldspar, Coal , Iron, Copper. Forests and woodlands

 

occupy more than 29% of the state which is amongst the highest in India.

Centre imposed President's rule in Jharkhand on 19 Jan 2009, when JMM chief Shibu Soren resigned as CM after he lost assembly election.Term of Jharkhand assembly was to expire in the 9.3.2010 and the President rule was proclaimed on 19 Jan 2009 which cannot be extended upto 18 Jan 2010.Hence the election was constitutional obligation on the part of government to have democratically elected government in this eastern state. There are about 1,80,27,47 voters for 81 seats.

In such circumstance,Union Cabinet called to end President's rule in Jharkhand and dissolve the state assembly.Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla here said with the dissolution an announcement of polling dates in five phases, November 27, December 2, 8, 12 and 18. The date for the counting of votes to take place on December 23.
