EU sponsors disadvantaged children's art exhibition in Jaffna & Colombo organised by the Gods Own Children Foundation

The exhibition will be held in on 7th & 8th of September 2008 at the Ilam Kalaignar Mandram Hall in Nallur, Jaffna and on 30th September & 1st October 2008 at the St. Paul’s Church Hall, Bambalapitiya, Colombo.
(live-PR.com) - The European Union is supporting the disadvantaged children’s art exhibition in Jaffna & Colombo, which are being held on occasion of International Children’s Day, which is celebrated on the 1st of October every year.
The children’s art exhibition will be held under the theme of the “Needs of Children and Adults in Jaffna”. The exhibition will be held in
on 7th & 8th of September 2008 at the Ilam Kalaignar Mandram Hall in Nallur, Jaffna and on 30th September & 1st October 2008 at the St. Paul’s Church Hall, Bambalapitiya, Colombo.
The European Union has been active in Sri Lanka for over 30 years. The EU has given substantial development aid to Sri Lanka. Since 1990, the EU have provided more than 330 million euros to Sri Lanka for rehabilitation, development and economic co-operation activities and over 100 million euros for post-tsunami reconstruction, general development and conflict prevention activities. In addition to our other projects in the north, the EU is extremely pleased to sponsor this Children’s Art Exhibition in Jaffna & Colombo.
Gods Own Children is a non profit organization, currently operating three non-fee levying Special Needs Schools in the Jaffna Peninsula. These schools are in operation in the areas of Ariyalai, Point Pedro and Siththankerny in the Jaffna Peninsula. The Special Needs Schools accommodate intellectually & physically disabled children & children with Learning Difficulties.
The art exhibits of the children will be auctioned at the exhibitions to the highest bidder to raise funds for a children’s resource center in Jaffna.
The Gods Own Children Foundation is incorporated by the Registrar of Companies in Sri Lanka and is licensed to operate as a non-profit organization. The Gods Own Children Foundation is also an accredited Social Service Organization / Non-Governmental Organization with the Jaffna District Secretariat, Nallur in the Jaffna Peninsula.
