(live-PR.com) - (Hartford, CT) – The Connecticut Laborers’ District Council, comprising of over 8,000 Connecticut workers and also members of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, endorsed today Republican U.S. Congressman Christopher Shays for reelection in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District race.

“Congressman Shays has been one of the most effective independent thinkers and politicians in Congress that, over the years, has represented
Connecticut families very effectively by helping to cut taxes and create new jobs. By establishing the ‘One Coast, One Future Regional Economic Development Initiative’, Congressman Shays has pooled our state resources to promote economic growth in the Fourth District. His dedicated support for Davis-Bacon, minimum wage and Trade Adjustment Assistance legislation are also significant factors that has led to our endorsement announcement today,” stated Charles LeConche, business manager, Connecticut Laborers’ District Council & international representative, Laborers’ International Union of North America.

The Connecticut Laborers’ District Council represents approximately 8,000 members employed in the construction industry and other building and trade fields throughout the state. The Laborers’ International Union, founded in 1903 largely by immigrant workers, includes more than 800,000 members who work in construction and hazardous materials remediation, as well as in healthcare, the U.S. Postal Service and other public service sectors of the economy.
