(live-PR.com) - VIENNA, Austria (AP) - Four soldiers accused of involvement in two videos showing young Austrian conscripts exhibiting pro-Nazi behavior have been temporarily suspended as prosecutors consider criminal charges, a defense ministry statement said Thursday.
Military officials have launched disciplinary proceedings against the soldiers, the statement said.
On Tuesday, Austria's Defense Minister, Norbert Darabos, said he
had begun an investigation into a video published on the video-sharing Web site YouTube that showed two conscripts raising their arms in a Nazi-style salute. One is shown screaming «Heil Hitler.
A similar video surfaced Wednesday showing one of the men appearing with a swastika tattoo, said military spokesman Hans-Georg Wallner.
Wallner said only three of the suspects were seen on the videos and that the fourth is suspected of publishing the first video.
Darabos stressed demonstrations of support for Nazi ideology could not be tolerated.
«There can't be any compromises here,» Darabos said.
